इश्क़ में ग़ैरत-ए-जज़्बात ने रोने न दिया वर्ना क्या बात थी किस बात ने रोने न दिया (ग़ैरत-ए-जज़्बात = भावनाओं/ संवेदनाओं का स्वाभिमान/ लज्जाशीलता/ ख़ुद्दारी) आप कहते थे के रोने से न बदलेंगे नसीब उम्र भर आपकी इस बात ने रोने न दिया उनसे मिलकर हमें रोना था बहुत रोना था तंगी-ए-वक़्त-ए-मुलाक़ात ने रोने न दिया (तंगी-ए-वक़्त-ए-मुलाक़ात = मिलने के समय की कमी) रोनेवालों से कहो उनका भी रोना रो लें जिनको मजबूरी-ए-हालात ने रोने न दिया एक दो रोज़ का सदमा हो तो रो लें 'फ़ाकिर' हम को हर रोज़ के सदमात ने रोने न दिया (सदमा = आघात, चोट), (सदमात = सदमा का बहुवचन) -सुदर्शन फ़ाकिर यार को मैं ने मुझे यार ने सोने न दिया रात भर तालि-ए-बेदार ने सोने न दिया (तालि-ए-बेदार = जागता हुआ नसीब, सौभाग्य) एक शब बुलबुल-ए-बेताब के जागे न नसीब पहलू-ए-गुल में कभी ख़ार ने सोने न दिया (बुलबुल-ए-बेताब = व्याकुल/ बेचैन बुलबुल), (पहलू-ए-गुल = गुलाब के आगोश/ बगल/ नजदीक), (ख़ार = काँटा) रात भर की दिल-ए-बेताब ने बातें मुझ से  रंज-ओ-मेहनत के गिरफ़्तार न
